Bridge The Gap

When I saw this image last week I knew I had to do a post on it.

Couple on rocks in the ocean with their backs to each other.

You ever felt like that in your marriage? I suspect so, as most of us have. There were words and now you’re not talking to each other and both doing all you can to avoid each other. In bed you hug your side, she hugs hers. You think about reaching over to touch her, but it feels like it’s too far and way too much work. Besides, she should be the one doing that!

What you need to realise is one of the big things at play in this situation is pride. You want her to make the first move. You want her to break, to apologise, or make some opening. She hurt you and it’s not your place to fix it. Your pride is hurt and she better do something about that!

Of course, she is likely feeling the same way about you, so there is that.

Lori and I say that when things like this happen, the more mature person goes first. May I suggest you choose to be the more mature person?
