The Problem with Frameworks: Good Tool, Bad Master

At the peaching workshop, we talked a good deal about the mental framework we apply to scripture. A framework can be a great tool for understating a passage, but it can also be a problem. If something falls outside our framework, do we just ignore it or, or do we see the problem and make adjustments? Do we force things to fit our framework that don’t belong there?

Of course, this isn’t just an issue for studying the Bible. We have frameworks for understanding various things, including our wife and marriage.

Scaffolding around a brain

Does the framework you have for your wife and marriage help you understand and make good choices? Or is that framework causing problems? Does it accommodate everything your wife is and does, or are you missing things because they don’t fit in your framework? Are you trying to force things into your framework, harming your wife in the process?

Paul is interesting. Read on framework kind of struck a cord with me this morning, February 1923 I had umbilical hernia surgery, I’m 59 years old and after surgery, I went into a prostatitis scenario with my prostate. After finding out that it was not cancer I’ve been managing that well, but over the course of the year, my libido has dropped significantly I do take an injectable testosterone for the last 10 years and do take Cialis, but this loss and libido has me concerned. I’ve been struggling with this because it doesn’t fit the framework that I’ve been used to, not sure if it’s something I should pursue with my doctor, or just accept it as part of getting older. Any thoughts?
Thank you for The work you and your wife do! Your ministries have helped my wife and I like nothing else has!
