No, A Vibrator Won’t Ruin Sex

If you’ve followed me for long, you know I’m all for couples using vibrators to make sex easier or better for women. Of course, I’ve had some push back on that. Some find it sinful, although they can’t quite find a verse to support that. Others will avoid the word sin, while telling you it’s a bad idea for, ah, reasons. And then you have folks who toss around words like addition, dependent, crutch or numbing.

So let’s deal with all of that.

Sex toys in a bedside table drawer.

For decades, there have been claims that frequent vibrator use will numb a woman’s clitoris. And yet no study has shown this is the case, and several that looked for it failed to find it. Yes, very heavy vibrations can numb any part of the body, but the effect is temporary, and most women don’t want nearly as much vibration as would be required.

Others say a woman will become unable to orgasm without a vibrator. If she couldn’t orgasm until a vibrator was used, then this is a nonissue. If her ability to orgasm was hit-and-miss prior to vibrator use, why would she want to go back to that? If a vibrator mean she can climax before she gets frustrated, or result in better orgasms, why would she, or a husband who loves her, want to stop using the vibe?

I find “it’s a crutch” the most offensive claim. Should a woman come half the time, often after a long struggle, so she is not using a “crutch”? Should she have weaker orgasms and never have multiples, so she can feel good about sex being “natural”? Is far less without a vibrator in any way a good thing?

Multiple studies have found that vibrator use in coupled sex results in greater sexual satisfaction and sexual well-being for women. Seems to me that’s all we need to know.

If you’re looking for a vibrator, Married Dance has a great selection with no images of nudity or scantily clad people.

Those who would condemn the use of it as a crutch, it’s worth slowing down to think through. Someone with a missing or maimed foot could usually get around without a crutch, too, but doesn’t mean they should have to just because we don’t come equipped with crutches naturally. Sometimes “crutches” are just the best way to get where we need to go in this fallen world. Sure, if sin had never brought death and the curse on us, we might never need or want anything to help us like that but that isn’t our reality.

Would you yank the crutch away from a cripple and force them to hop or drag themselves around because it’s more natural? Don’t be cruel by declaring something wrong that God doesn’t address. The Bible DOES have something to say about adding to or taking away from what God said. Be careful with that stone in your hand. Probably best to just let it fall to the ground unthrown.

My wife was too embarrassed to use a vibrator for many years, I got her one of the silver bullets, she tried it and found she liked a lot. She tried several types over the years and has found one she really likes. She doesn’t use it often, but when she wants to orgasm, it is her go to toy! I am happy for her to enjoy it anytime she wants. I wish she would have tried it years before she did.
