According to my news feed, the sex act everyone is talking about is shallowing. If you Googled “shallowing” two years ago, most of the hits were about golfing. Today, virtually all of them are about sex. So yeah, there is certainly more talk about it now.
Shallowing means only penetrating the entrance of the vagina. That can be done with your penis, your tongue, a finger, or a sex toy. Doing this is a good thing for her because 90% of the nerves in her vagina are there. Additionally, anything done at the entrance is likely to stimulate the clitoris to some degree. Do women really care about this? A study done three years ago, before this was big news, found 84% of women did it to improve pleasure. Additionally, it’s a thing in female masturbation, and at least one company has made a vibrator specifically for shallowing.
So give it a try. It’s not that far out there, so you might try a bit of it without even discussing it first. Do it during foreplay, with a finger just inside and another doing nice things to her clit. If you sometimes take her to orgasm with a vibe, try a bit of shallowing with the vibe.
You can also try this with intercourse. Of course, she’s tighter at the entrance, so it’s going to be more stimulating for you. Additionally, the ring of muscles at the entrance of her vagina contracts when she comes. If you have the head of your penis there when you take her over the top, that might finish you. If you have good control, or stay hard after you climax, you could try tip only intercourse.

I do this sometimes but you do want to be careful. If you get excited and start thrusting harder/faster, your penis might pop out completely. That’s not a problem the same way that falling from a tree isn’t a problem but the sudden stop against the ground IS. If/When your penis suddenly re-enters her vaginal opening, it can do so at an odd angle or slightly to one side and cause pain. Naturally, you don’t want to hurt your wife. Also, that can be a real mood killer.
So, yes, it can be something fun and different to try sometimes, if she is up for it. Just be careful. If things start heating up, you might be better off pushing your penis further in for her safety or, an even better idea would be to let her get on top so that she can control the strokes and (hopefully) avoid getting hurt while continuing to enjoy the ride.
