I was recently reminded of how powerful a force habit can be.
I generally work on posts in the late afternoon and evening. Occasionally I do it in the morning. But after lunch is set aside for physical labour.

Last week, my son and daughter-in-law wanted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their first date. They asked if we could keep their boys that afternoon and evening. We said of course. But that meant I had to have my posts done, recorded, and edited before I worked outside. As I sat at my desk after lunch, it felt so wrong. And when I saw my wife working in the yard (she was done with her post) I felt guilty. I was agitated and felt I had to finish ASAP. All this because of years of habit doing it a certain way.
Where might habit be doing this to you? Where might it be an issue for your wife?
Sometimes we have to push back on habit and do what needs to be done. But doing that comes with a cost. Keep this in mind for yourself, and especially for your wife. Don’t ask her to go against her habit without a good reason.
