Support Your Wife’s Seasonal Decorating

So it’s almost fall. That means all the fall and winter decorations are about to show up. Pumpkins, ears of corn, snowflakes, wreaths, bows, and who knows what else.

Table decoration made of pumpkins, berries, figs, and leaves.

Please don’t complain about or make fun of your wife’s decorating. Encourage her, thank her, and just go with it.

If it makes her happy, that’s a good enough reason to “put up” with it.

Only true in the Northern hemisphere, greetings from Australia !

I kinda wish my wife would do some seasonal decorating. Not a lot, but a little. Christmas is the only (seasonal) decorating done around here. Of course, I’m not doing it either, so I don’t complain. She does a great job making the house look nice and that’s enough.

Oh, I love the decorations! I might tease her about them some but I really do enjoy them.

My difficulty with her decorating is that she doesn’t usually do it. That is to say, she asks me to get them all out and put them all in place. I’m not a decorator, so it rarely meets with approval when I do and it’s just one more thing on my “honey, do” list along with painting, carpentry, vacuuming the cars, etc.

I find myself less enthusiastic about the decorations under these circumstances than I once was. Now if she said, “Let’s decorate” as in work together to get it all done and done right, that would be a different story! She seems to always look for tasks we can do separately but I’m always looking for things we can do together. Together is good.
