Make Time for Invitations in Marriage

A couple of weeks ago, Lori did a post about The Cost of Invitations. You need to have the time to follow through, and there’s the possibility the other person will want to alter your plans a bit.

It’s smart to not make invitations if you can’t follow through. But a good marriage is full of invitations. An invitation to take a walk, or to have sex; an invitation to take a vacation together, or to go out to dinner, and so on.

The other side of this is accepting your wife’s invitations. It’s okay to say no thanks on occasion, but if you do it too often, that hurts your marriage. Likewise, for always saying no to a particular invitation.

Aside from kindness and setting what the other wants as a high priority, doing invitations right requires margin.

Do you have the time to offer and accept the invitations that make a marriage good?
