Do you have a “before snow” list?
It being the start of August here, we are thinking about what we need to get done outside before it snows. We might have till early November, but we could lose sight of the ground well before that. So it’s an unknown deadline. This results in prioritising what has to get done, what it would be nice to get done, and what we do if everything else is done, and we’re not buried in white.

Having to do this kind of prioritised list every year has taught us to do the same thing where situations don’t impose an undefined deadline. Rather than doing what is easiest first, or doing the jobs we can quickly finish, we focus on what matters most. Then if something happens, and we don’t have the time or funds we thought we would have, it’s less of a problem.
In what areas of your marriage would doing a “before it snows” list be helpful?
