Enhancing Household Functionality While Strengthening Your Marriage

Ask your wife what needs to be fixed or made more functional around the house. This gives her a chance to be rid of a minor irritation, and that’s good for her and for your marriage.Man on a step ladder changing a light bulb at home.

Ask this question regularly to keep the home and your wife humming along.

“Ask your wife what needs to be done” – better yet, take a look around and see for yourself what needs to be done. :-) That would be even better for your marriage – taking the initiative to know these things yourself instead of leave it to your wife to know. She would feel so supported and like you are partners in your home. My husband does this and I am SO grateful.

    • @Liz – Maybe. Some guys do that and see things that are low on their wife’s list and miss what is on top – or misjudge what matters more to her. But if he can hit most of it, yeah, even better.

I guess my point was that it’s great to *share* that particular list. In our house I don’t keep the list – we both do, and we discuss the list and work together to order and prioritize the items on it. It’s not only my job to keep the list, because we both live here and we both have things that are important to us. I really love when he takes that initiative and he really loves it when I, in turn, weigh in on things that are more important to him but also affect me, like the yard and the driveway. :-)
