Another suggestion from ChatGPT on being a good husband. Today, “Building Trust in Your Marriage: Simple Habits That Go a Long Way”.

This one kind of stumped me. I suppose the idea is doing little things that create trust. But much of what I would say builds trust doesn’t seem like simple habits to me.
Trust is difficult to gain, and easily lost. If trust has been violated, it’s going to take way more than simple habits to fix that. It’s going to take time, and very possibly professional help.
One habit that I would suggest is making sure your wife has access to your phone, computer, and email. This suggests you have nothing to hide, and that’s a good thing. Anyone who demands their privacy in marriage is in for a bad time. Secrets and trust mix like oil and water.

What do you do when you want to arrange a surprise for Lori?
@Mike Taylor – Access doesn’t mean she is checking it 24/7. And if she was, that would suggest a problem.
I believe a huge step towards building trust and keeping it is to not do things that could potentially introduce doubt into your marriage. Even if you aren’t doing wrong, the potential for your spouse to start wondering is enough. Certainly there are situations where things need to happen, but even then a discussion and safeguards should be in place. This might mean some things don’t happen that aren’t wrong, but I see that as a small price to pay for keeping my wife from thinking “is he really doing what he said he is doing?”.
Over time, at least in my marriage, my wife doesn’t blink an eye if I was late getting home from work. But if I was regularly eating private lunches with ladies from work, how long before doubt creeps in? By not going to lunch like that and being open about my movements and plans, doubt has less of a chance to worm it’s way in. Thus I keep my wife’s trust and continue to build it.
That could probably be said better, but hopefully it comes across like I mean it too.
