The fellow we stayed with last weekend is further down the AI chat road that I had gone. He gave me some great tips, and inspired my thinking about ways to use this new technology. Out of curiosity, I asked ChatGPT to “Suggest a dozen article topics for making a heterosexual man a better husband.”
I specified heterosexual so I would actually get the words wife and husband in the output.
And the AI suggested:
- The Importance of Listening to Your Wife: Tips for Effective Communication
- How to Prioritize Quality Time with Your Spouse
- The Art of Apologizing: Why Saying Sorry Matters and How to Do It Right
- Building Trust in Your Marriage: Simple Habits That Go a Long Way
- Ways to Show Your Love and Affection for Your Wife
- Conflict Resolution in Marriage: Tips for a Happier Relationship
- How to Keep the Romance Alive in Your Marriage
- Understanding and Meeting Your Wife’s Emotional Needs
- The Role of Gratitude in a Happy Marriage
- Creating Shared Goals and Dreams with Your Wife
- Navigating Life Transitions Together: Strategies for a Stronger Marriage
- Making Time for Intimacy: Strategies for a Fulfilling Sexual Relationship

It’s not a horrible list. It fails to mention kids, in-laws, and money, which are all in the top five causes of problems. It did mention sex, which didn’t really show up when I asked about making a woman a better wife.
What AI engines like this do is give us an overview of the data the engine was feed. It’s been shown it tends to magnify biases in that data. In that way, it’s rather human. The difference is, we can choose to move beyond the initial data and look for truth.
I will kick around the things ChatGPT thinks would make you a better husband over the next few weeks. For today, I want to encourage you to rethink what you believe about who your wife is. Do you have current data, or are you basing what you think on what you learned years ago? Where do you get your data about who she is? Is that source accurate?

I wonder what would happen if you added some simple additional criteria – ethnicity, income bracket, religion, age etc – to the mix.
@Neil – It would change it. When I put in “Christian” it added something about spirituality. And giving a 24-39 age range changes the wording a bit.
Interesting. Interactive AI porn next big thing. Will challenge traditional moral arguments.
@Doug – At the moment it’s so paranoid about sex it rejects, a third of what I try and gives a warning on most of the rest. The TOS allows it to do educational things about sex, but it apparently can’t identify them when it sees them.
The real issue will be child porn generated by AI. And that’s not too far down the road, I suspect.
I asked the same question of Google’s Bard AI. Here is its response:
Here are a dozen article topics for making a heterosexual man a better husband:

How to Be a Better Lover
How to Keep the Romance Alive

These are just a few ideas to get you started. There are many other things that men can do to be better husbands. The most important thing is to be willing to learn and grow, and to always put your wife first.
Here are some additional tips for being a better husband:
Be present. Make time for your wife and your family, and let them know that they are your top priority.
Be supportive. Be there for your wife when she needs you, and offer your help and encouragement.
Be respectful. Treat your wife with kindness and respect, even when you disagree.
Be honest. Be truthful with your wife, even when it’s difficult.
Be forgiving. Everyone makes mistakes, so be willing to forgive your wife and move on.
Be grateful. Show your wife how much you appreciate her, both verbally and through your actions.
Be loving. Let your wife know how much you love her, every day.
By following these tips, you can be a better husband and build a stronger, more loving marriage.
You can be the judge if this is better.
When I read the answers for the AI questions, I picked up what you caught when reading the results, downloaded information. It’s results are downloaded information, and some of the answers read as if they were titles to books or chapters of a book. It doesn’t factor in race, demographics, or age. We require Gods manual and His Spirit to guide us into making decisions that reflect love, compassion, and Godly wisdom. I love my wife enough to seek wisdom, pray, and ask wise counsel for guidance to love her they way she needs to be loved. As a man, I have so much that I juggle and manage, the last thing I need is someone with a machine to help me make mistakes. I’m not signing up for that firing squad.
