Last weekend, I spoke at a men’s retreat. Lori and I rolled that into a bit of a vacation for ourselves, something we learned to do many years ago when we often travelled for work. We have long time friends an hour from where I would be, so we hung with them. Otherwise, we’d have got a hotel on the beach for a few days.
Have you ever come back from vacation more tired than you left? Yeah, me too. But we’ve been working on that, and this time we nailed it.

Part of it was not doing too much. When I got back to the friend’s house Sunday afternoon, I let them know I was shot. We had a nice meal at their place and watched movies because I wasn’t even up to conversation. In the past, I often gave into the temptation to do as much as I could on vacation, but I’m tired of paying for that when we get home.
What really made this vacation good was we came home on Tuesday. Wednesday is our Sabbath, so we had a full day of rest when we got home. It was great! And then Thursday I was ready to go, with far more energy and excitement than I’ve had for months.
Apparently, even vacations benefit from margin!

I completely relate! It’s important to find that balance between rest and activities on vacation. And having a buffer day like your Wednesday Sabbath after returning home is a brilliant idea. Sounds like you’ve discovered the secret to a truly refreshing getaway! 😊🌴 #VacationBalance #Refreshed
