Now that Lori has launched Doing Marriage Well, it’s time for me to start talking about Doing Sex Well, which I will launch next year.
The goal of Doing Sex Well should be clear from the name. This is about helping you and your wife have your best possible sex life. No matter how long you’ve been married, and no matter how good or poor it is now, it can be better. Probably a whole lot better.
The word “Well” rather than “Right” is important here. There is no one right way to do sex. Lori and I have heard a lot of folks talk about their sex lives and we are amazed at the variety. There are a few things that are a bad plan for any marriage and a few that are necessary for good sex, but a great deal of it is up to the couple.
Part of the difficulty is figuring out what works best for you. Even if you’re both willing to try new things, how do you come up with new things? Are you able to discuss sex? Do you have the vocabulary do to so? Doing Sex Well is designed to help you with these issues. Some of it will be aimed at helping you communicate. Some will be about getting you to think about sex. And some of it will be positions or sex acts you may never have tried.
Each idea will be presented over a two-week period. Part of the reason for this is to give you plenty of time to do what has been suggested. If it’s a sex act, you can schedule it so it’s a time when neither of you is tired or stressed. You can also dodge her period or a low drive time of the month if needed. The last posts of each section will help you think about what you did and discuss it. This is to facilitate deciding what is worth adding to your sex life and what’s not. I’m not sure how often I will post. Some ideas will need more posts than others. My guess is four to seven posts over the two weeks.
Doing Sex Well is NOT for couples with significant problems. It’s for couples with good marriages and no major sex problems. If a husband and wife in such a marriage commit to reading every idea and tying most of them, I can pretty much assure them their sex life will improve.
I have been outlining content and have a year’s worth of topics. I expect the whole thing to be eighteen months to two years. As the order of the ideas matters, I may make it a closed list and start it a few times.
Any feedback, question, or comments greatly appreciated. My goal for this is for this to do more for sex lives than everything I’ve done in the last twenty-five years. If it goes well, I may turn it into an e-book course. But for now, it’s online and donation supported for at least the first run.
