I ran across an interesting study trying to discern what affects a woman’s arousal, desire, orgasm, and sexual satisfaction. The hypothesis was a woman’s cycle would have a significant impact. This was not found in the study, but ovulation was not detected hormonally, so the timing was iffy.
The study looked at many factors and found some correlations that give us clues about how we can make sex easier and better for our wives.

It was found that higher-quality relationships correspond to higher scores on things like desire, arousal, orgasm, and overall satisfaction with sex. Your wife’s sex life is heavily dependent on feeling loved, cherished, and respected by you. But you have an advantage if your wife is following Christ, as women who said religion was important in their life reported higher relationship quality. Based on other studies, that is probably more about the husband being a follower. Regardless, Christian women have better relationships which result in better sex.
On the other side, stress was negatively related to relationship quality and all the sexual parameters studied. Stress is both a marriage and sex life killer. If your wife has significant ongoing stress, dealing with that needs to be your top priority.
Emotional Intelligence was strongly correlated with most aspects of sex being good. Higher EI resulted in better desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, and satisfaction. Emotional Intelligence is becoming a hot commodity in many industries and it’s good for your relationships and mental health. So working to improve EI for both of you would result in all kinds of benefits, including in the bedroom.
The bottom line is your wife’s sexuality has a lot to do with things you do fully clothed. If sex is a problem area in your marriage, there’s a good chance the solution has nothing to do with sex!
