As Lori got over her surgery, she wasn’t doing nearly as much as usual. That of course is right and necessary. She felt bad that I was having to do things she normally does, but I had no problem with it.

One evening as we got into bed I thanked her for putting up the laundry and doing some of the dishes. I kept saying it till she understood I meant it. She had done less than she would normally do, but she had done what she could and I honestly appreciated it.
Sometimes doing less than usual takes far more time or energy than doing all of it would normally cost. When that happens to your wife, please look at the effort more than the results and let her know you appreciate her doing what she could.
