Say Nice Things To Your Wife

Helen Fisher’s second way of leveraging neurochemistry to maintain romantic love and form a deep attachment in long-term relationships is saying nice things to each other. This reduces cortisol, which is sometimes called the stress hormone.

Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul. Proverbs 16:24

Cortisol is an important hormone that helps to regulate our bodies. But when cortisol is high much of the time it does damage to our bodies. Excessive cortisol can lead to anxiety, depression, heart disease, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, weight gain, and more. Anything you can do to keep cortisol normal is good for your wife in a lot of ways.

So compliment your wife. Tell her she’s wonderful and tell her why you feel that way. Thank her, specifically, for the loving things she does for you. Bonus points for saying nice things about her in front of others.

I love this. Thank you. Another relationship expert says Goodwill is the absolute foundation of a relationship. I’m realising that just working at creating a positive environment makes a world of difference for my wife and therefore also for me.
I am an online delivery driver for a supermarket and am fascinated to get a brief window into so many people’s homes. To see a couple who are comfortable together, joking and valuing each other is priceless.
