I saw a study that looked at how stimulating various parts of a woman’s anatomy showed up in her brain. The researchers were surprised that stimulation of the nipples causes the area of the brain associated with the genitals to respond. The researchers said this gives a neurological basis for women’s reports of nipple stimulation being arousing and in some women even causing an orgasm.
So yeah, touching her nipples is a good form of foreplay, if she’s okay with it. It’s not just that touching them gets her mind moving towards sex, there’s a neurological connection between her nipples and her sex organs.

Of course, God knew this and suggested we pleasure our wife’s nipples a very long time ago. Prov 5:19 tells us to let the breasts of the wife of our youth fill us at all times with delight. The Hebrew could mean, and some suggest would be better translated as, nipples.
Please note this is neither encouragement nor permission to grab her breasts any time you feel like it. They are attached to her body and she has preferences about when and how they are handled.

Going to have to disagree big time on this one. Back when I was still pursuing her, my wife didn’t like her breasts touched at all and especially hated her nipples touched. It was uncomfortable to be touched at all and if her nipples were stimulated enough to become erect, she said it was physically painful. Breasts were completely off limits for anything sexual. Several years ago she had major breast reduction surgery to alleviate back pain and now has almost no sensation at all in them. She doesn’t have the pain in her nipples anymore but she feels nothing good either. (The surgery did work as intended though and greatly reduced her back pain.)
@H – Which is why I said “if she’s okay with it”.
I understand this scenario before surgery as it is the same with my wife. I gather, from things she says that it is some kind of psychological barrier. Normally, if she feels me touch her breasts it is an instant mood killer. If she notices me even looking it kills any mood she had going and I’ve even seen a look of revulsion/contempt come over her face. I have discovered, however, that once she gets going, that changes. She has to be good and turned on and tell me I can take her shirt/bras off and play with her breasts. I can’t just decide she looks turned on and go for it or it might kill everything right there but if I leave it all alone until she gives the go-ahead, they become a valuable part of our intimacy.
Yes, I know, she and many others might point out that our troubled past plays into it, and all would be correct to a point. Thinking back, however, to when we were engaged and talking through what we believed, what was acceptable behavior before and after the wedding, etc. I recall her saying things that indicated that her breasts were and always had been particularly off limits, as in beyond the normal and even beyond the off limits of her genitals. I thought it odd at the time but knew little of women or sex and shrugged it off. Looking back I realize it was an early warning of challenges we would face throughout our marriage. It was an issue then (though I only recognize it in hindsight), it was an issue from the moment we said “I do,” and it has continued to be an issue through two decades of marriage and, yes, infidelity that magnified it. The reality I see now is that I gave her an excuse to be particularly protective and limiting if access that she was already protective of and limiting. The only actual change was that now she could blame me. The issue existed long before we met.
Where did it come from? What can be done to help? I wish I knew. But the fact remains that even she can enjoy it under a specific set of circumstances, even now.
Doesn’t work on women who have severely inverted nipples. No nipples is definitely an obstacle to nipple play.
And PLEASE don’t twist the nipples!!! They aren’t radio knobs! Did you like getting titty twisters in middle school? NO? Then don’t your wife’s nipples! Or yank on them!
Also, realize that your man hands are stronger than you think and rougher than you realize.
A good starting point is to start off gentle. The more aroused she is, the more aggressive you can touch her.
For many women, breast sensitivity is different throughout the month. There are times being touched feels fabulous and times when it is annoying and times when it hurts.
This 100% applies to me! All my husband has to do is a gentle squeeze and I literally feel it in my lady parts. It instantly puts me in the mood, and it helps greatly to climax. He was married before and her breasts were off limits, so it’s taken a few years to get him to understand how important and effective this is for me. He was not a “boob guy” at all when we got married, but he sure is now!
@Ann Meyer – We are individuals sexually. Glad hubby figured it out!
