This blog started in mid-July of 2001, not long before the attack on the Twin Towers. So while it’s a bit late, I always think of my blogging anniversary when nine eleven comes around.

I was forty years old when I started The Generous Husband. The great thing about that is I was old enough to have a clue and calmed down enough that I didn’t say as many stupid things as I would have said when I was younger.
This is not to say I have a problem with the younger folks blogging about marriage. I’m all for it. But I suspect some of them will look back in a decade and shake their head at some of what they said. There are a few places where my thinking has shifted some and some places where I realise I was wrong before, but most of that is minor.
Life changes us. We’re not the same person today we were when we were younger. And we’re not the same person we will be in the future. This is a natural part of living, experience, and hopefully an increase in wisdom. Because you and your wife both change, your marriage changes too. Are you keeping up with those changes? Do you need to discuss what has changed and what you might need to do because of that? And please, have some grace about the things you both did when you were younger and less wise!
BTW, if you’re curious, you can find the first half year of tips here. Forgive the lack of editing!
