I’ve heard a lot of wives complain their husband never dresses up when they go out. And I’ve seen plenty of decked-out wives with guys in jeans and a T-shirt.

Buy a reasonably dressy shirt or two to wear for date nights and other events. And once in a while, dress to the nines and take her somewhere extra nice.

Every time ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man” comes on, my wife says, “That is so true.”
Well said. I’m not horribly out of shape, but I’ve found that I simply look better when I wear more traditional things with more “ease” (room between clothes and me) on a daily basis. No problem since I’m an office type worker, really. Wife likes it, and as I tend to do natural fibers, it’s more comfortable, warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Added bonus, as I don’t tan well, is that I don’t have to put as much sunscreen on.
And the wife reciprocates, which is an even bigger bonus. She’s making me a pair of wool slacks even now from a pattern a retired cutter from Liverpool (sadly now deceased) designed for us.
Got cargo shorts and flip-flops on,
and a clean Def Leppard tee,
beard is kinda mostly gone;
what do you want from me?
When we met I dressed this way,
you didn’t seem to mind,
but here upon the marriage-way
it seems that love ain’t blind.
I can’t be no sharp-dressed man,
that’s way outside the line
of what I told ’bout my life plan,
and you said that sounded fine,
so what’s the change you have gone through
that I’m meaning less to you?
