My wife is an amazing woman. She is loving, caring, and generous. And those things don’t stop when she walks out our front door.
We share ten acres with three other adult women. Two younger than my wife, one a bit older. And Lori is all about loving and caring for those three women.

Some days she is out of the house half a dozen times to go bless one or more of them in some way. It’s a beautiful thing, but it also means she’s not always here when I go to say something to her or need something from her. Now please know I don’t feel slighted or cheated in any way. I get her best and I know I do. But my selfish nature would like her here the moment I want something.
I choose to bless and encourage her to love on those women for a couple of reasons. Yes, I want her to do it for them. It’s a good thing. But beyond that, it’s who my wife is, it’s who God made her to be. If I tried to restrict her even a little bit, I’d be telling God He’s wrong, and I’d hurt my wife, because not being who God made us to be hurts.
So I smile and enjoy her blessing others. I know she will come home because I have chocolate and a cute butt. (No, I don’t think it’s cute, but she does.)
What about you? Are you encouraging your wife to be who God made her to be? It might take some sacrifice, but it’s a loving choice that actually works out well for you.

Hi. Thanks for this post.
We are the other way round if anything. I’m out working and helping other people and sometimes sense my wife would like me here more.
I need to watch out for that – maybe even talk it through!
