This is more or less an extension of yesterday’s But She Has A Speck! post.
Most of us were taught early in life that two wrongs don’t make a right. I was also taught that three lefts do, but that’s just me. While we would all agree that two wrongs don’t make a right is a wise and true statement, does our behaviour show we live it? More specifically, does our behaviour with our wife show we live it in our marriage?

The common marriage failure in this category is thinking the wrong we are doing to our wife is acceptable or less horrible because of the wrong she is doing to us. She ignores you when she is on her smartphone, so you don’t feel bad about doing the same when you game. She says no to sex way too often, so your use of porn is reasonable. She never puts gas in the car, so you don’t change the toilet paper when you finish a roll.
Often this is not a conscious tit for tat thing. But we keep score internally and as long as we calculate that our wrongs don’t significantly outnumber her wrongs, we’re okay with it.
Aside from being wrong, this attitude is toxic in a marriage. If you aren’t dedicated to doing more for your wife than she does for you, your marriage is in trouble.
